President David Spencer lands his 10lb trout, Dunmore Trout Waters

Welcome to our final newsletter of 2024!

As we wrap up the year, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown by. Our recent Christmas Party was a great success, with some fantastic photos included in this edition.

This year has been a mix of joy and reflection for our club. Sadly, we lost our beloved member Sue, and our thoughts remain with Robin and their family.

On a brighter note, it’s been an action-packed year. We enjoyed well-attended outings, market days in Laurieton and Lake Cathie, Gone Fishing Days, and regular casting practices. The Casting For Recovery event at the Ebor Trout Hatchery was a special highlight, with great participation.

We also gained exposure through features in Port Focus Magazine and the Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce’s Escape Magazine. Additionally, we were thrilled to welcome several new members to the club this year.

In other news, our Club Patron, Brian Henderson, was recognised by Fly Fishers International with a Lifetime Achievement in Fly Casting Education Award. Congratulations, Brian, on this well-deserved honour.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed what we’ve had to offer. I look forward to seeing what fishing and adventures 2025 brings!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this newsletter, especially Michael Kowalski for capturing amazing drone shots of our fishing spots. Your photos and stories bring our activities to life.

A big thank you to Dawn for organising another successful raffle at the Christmas Party, raising over $300 for the club! We also appreciate the generous donations from John Rothwell and Bob Dove, which made the raffle prizes extra special.

As we close out 2024, on behalf of the committee, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year. I look forward to another great year of fishing and camaraderie in 2025!

Warm regards,

David

Editor & President
