Several months ago I came across a DPI grant advertisement where funds were available for various fishing related projects, including “fish releases”. So, on behalf of Hastings Fly Fishers I put together an application requesting $30,000 to purchase some 23,000 Dusky Flathead fry/fingerlings from Searles Aquaculture near Yamba. Read More »

The release team got underway at 12 noon as planned but not ten minutes into the journey we got a phone call indicating the supplier was going to be an hour and a half late due to car problems – bugger. Read More »

With restrictions lifted further fishing outings are back on the agenda as well as Fly Tie Nights. Our next Fly Tie Night is scheduled for the usual time the second Tuesday of the month (21st July) at the Senior Citizens Centre. Read More »

With social distancing restrictions easing we are now in a position to start some Club activities back up. Our first fishing outing for two or three months down on the Wallamba River, Darawank, was a success. Another outing is planned for next month; more info as it comes to hand. Read More »

10th anniversary luncheon

In July this year the Club celebrated it’s 10th anniversary in style with a luncheon held at Port City Bowling Club. The 10th Anniversary celebrations kicked off to a fine start with members and guests being greeted at the door with a glass of champagne – sorry, “sparkling wine” – a programme with a lucky door ticket attached (lots of prizes to be won), and a Special Edition Newsletter.
