Welcome to this month’s HFF Flycast Newsletter.

First let me apologise for the delay in the January Newsletter. Co-editor Bonnie and newly appointed sub-editor “Izzy” assisted me in the rapid preparation of the Newsletter after our return from Darwin and we were feeling justifiably pleased with ourselves.

Pride cometh before the fall and our descent was spectacular when we were informed that despite my best efforts at compression both versions of the Newsletter were unable to be circulated to the google group as they were both well over the size limit.

After long research on google, many unsuccessful attempts at proffered solutions accompanied by as many profanities from myself (not Bonnie or Izzy) over a couple of days I finally met with success. Hopefully there will be no delays to future editions.

Although my trip to Montana and Wyoming was cancelled due to Covid I continued to receive information on the fishing in those areas from Blue Ribbon Flies, Midcurrent Fly Fishing News and Hatch Magazine. Bonnie was particularly drawn to articles and photographs in these and other publications by John Juracek.

These articles not only dealt with fishing in the USA but were applicable to fly fishing in general.
We contacted John per e-mail and asked if we could publish some of his articles in our newsletter under his byline. Our request was answered almost immediately and John generously gave his permission to reprint any of his articles in our newsletter.

In this edition we include John’s profile for your information and his informative article, “Some Casting Notes”. I’m sure it will whet your appetite for further articles from this experienced and knowledgeable writer.
