2022 Bass Fingerling Release

2022 Bass Fingerling Release

The release team got underway at 12 noon as planned but not ten minutes into the journey we got a phone call indicating the supplier was going to be an hour and a half late due to car problems – bugger. So onward we went deciding to stop at the Telegraph Point pub for a bite of lunch. We stopped at the pub at but were informed that it was not open – second bugger.

Onward again to the Telegraph Point pumping station to do an inspection of the track down to the river – Rodney stated my previous photo did not do it justice as it is extremely rough and gouged out by all of the rain. So back in the cars and off to Rollands Plains & the first release site at Bril Bril Creek. There we waited… and waited… and waited till it got the better of me so I suggested we go and have a look at the second site on the Wilson River. This turned out to be the better of the two sites in that area.

We went back to Bril Bril Creek to wait for the delivery of the bass fry and waited… waited… and waited. The delivery finally arrived some two and a half hours later. I suggested/made the decision to abandon releases at Bril Bril Creek in preference to releasing at the Wilson River, so off we went the releases finally starting around three hours later than planned. It all went well at this location (Rodney and Dawn confirmed they had previously caught bass at that location).

The second release took place at Koree Island with the water level the highest I had seen at that location with the release completed without incident finishing around 5.30pm – some three and a half hours later than planned.

Thank you team Hastings – Dawn and Ron, President Dave, Iain, Brian, Dave Curry, Rodney, new members Michael & wife and, of course, me.
