HFF Flycast, March/April 2026

One of several fish caught (on fly) on Castaway Fishing Charters

Welcome to another bumper edition of the Flycast! It has been a busy couple of months for the Club, filled with memorable outings, great camaraderie, and a few challenges along the way.

A huge thank you to everyone who responded to the call for photos from recent adventures. The quality of the images has been outstanding, and it’s wonderful to see our members enjoying themselves on the water and around camp. Please keep them coming — they bring the newsletter to life.

March saw the successful return of the Harrington Fly Fest, held alongside our friends from Coffs Coast Fly Fishers. With around 50 participants, great workshops, plenty of stories shared, and excellent catering provided by our Club members, it was another fantastic weekend and a credit to everyone involved. Thank you to all who helped make it such a success.

Closer to home, although we unfortunately cancelled the planned Lake Keepit outing, members still made the most of an impromptu trip to Settlement Point, once again proving that fly fishers always adapt and find a way to get out on the water.

We were also deeply saddened to learn of the passing of much-loved member Sue Hall. Heartfelt condolences go to David and family. Sue will be remembered fondly for the many happy times and friendships she shared within the Club.

Finally, a special mention to Don, who continues to set the standard with his outing reports — we may need to create an “Intrepid Reporter Award” at this year’s AGM!

Take care, enjoy this edition of the Flycast, and tight lines until next time.
