August 2018 Newsletter

After five years of dedicated service as Editor of our monthly newsletter, Brian has decided it is time to hand over the reins. With his involvement in numerous clubs, organisations and committees, Brian has certainly kept himself busy, and we thank him for the considerable time and effort he has devoted to developing our newsletter and keeping members both informed and entertained.

As your recently retired President, I have volunteered to take on the role of Editor. Whether this proves to be a wise decision remains to be seen! My computer skills are somewhat limited, and I have no previous editorial experience. Fortunately, Brian has assured me that he is only a phone call away should I need assistance. In the meantime, I ask for your patience as I find my feet over the next few editions. Any suggestions, articles or contributions from members will be most welcome.

I would also like to congratulate Ben Harvey on taking up the role of President for 2018–2019. Ben has certainly hit the ground running, having already circulated a survey to Club members. Please support this initiative by completing and returning the survey as soon as possible.

There is plenty to explore in this month’s newsletter, including An Award to Remember – Julian Tapping, the latest NETAS News, Members’ Tips, our Wallabi Point outing, and news about our upcoming 10th anniversary celebrations. We also introduce It Seems to Me, a series of occasional observations from one of our Life Members.

Happy reading, and tight lines!

Iain
