Pogo Pheasant Tail Nymph Variant
This can be a dropper with a dry fly or another nymph. Strip Strip pause the fly should pogo up and down. That is why it is called a Pogo.
Materials
- Thread – Black 14/0.
- Hook – Nymph 2x size 12.
- Tail – Make up brush fibers
- Body – Green died Pheasant tail.
- Rib – Fine silver wire.
- Wing – case 1mm tan foam.
- Legs – Orange banded centipede legs
- Thorax – peacock herl.
Tying Instructions
- Cover hook 2/3 with thread.
- Tie in the ribbing.
- Tie in tail at the 1/3 point back to just past the barb.
- Take 9 or 5 pheasant tail fibres. Cut the and tie in the tips.
- Wrap the Pheasant tail to form the body, just 2/3 point.
- Tie in the feather there and trim.
- Reverse rib the silver wire to the 2/3 point. Tie it off.
- From right behind the eye tie in the foam wing case back past the 2/3 point.
- Tie in the peacock herl. Create a thorax ending just on eye length back from the eye.
- Take your thread back over the herl to the middle.
- Tie in two sets of the speckled Centipede legs.
- Bring thread back to the eye.
- Pull wing case over the herl and tie it off at the eye. Don’t cut the foam with the thread wraps. Trim wing case.
- Half hitch or whip finish.
- Trim the legs.
- Colour tan foam with Touch Bronze Green texture
