CDC Fly Fest #5: White CDC Micro Streamer
In our fifth instalment of CDC Fly Fest, we bring you a pattern that is both minimalist and deadly effective: Lucian Vasies’ White CDC Micro Streamer.
If you enjoy using light streamers or pairing micro streamers in tandem with a larger model, this fly is a perfect addition to your box. Designed with simplicity in mind, it delivers exceptional movement and flash without requiring complicated materials or advanced tying skills.
Why the White CDC Micro Streamer Works
CDC feathers are renowned for their natural mobility and subtle shimmer in the water. This pattern takes full advantage of those qualities, creating a lively silhouette that triggers predatory strikes. The white profile, combined with the sparkle of pearl tinsel and the bold presence of oversized eyes, makes it especially effective in both clear and slightly coloured waters.
Pro Tip
When attaching the eyes, apply a small amount of Superglue gel to hold them firmly in place. Then, carefully fill the gap between the 3D eyes with UV resin. This simple step not only makes the fly look more realistic but also greatly increases its durability—allowing it to withstand repeated strikes and the sharp teeth of predatory fish.
Final Thoughts
The White CDC Micro Streamer may be simple, but that’s its strength. With just three CDC feathers, pearl tinsel, and a set of bold eyes, you can tie a fly that is both versatile and resilient. Whether fished alone or as part of a tandem rig, this pattern is sure to earn a permanent spot in your streamer selection.
