Firstly, I’d like to apologise for the delay in sending out this newsletter; it seems time really does fly when you’re having fun! Fleur has had this issue ready to go since before Christmas, but I’ve been slow in completing my report.
That delay has at least had one benefit: this edition is packed with great content! From the Club Christmas Party to unofficial outings and community involvement days, it’s fantastic to see the club so active. The Christmas Party in particular looked like a lot of fun, and we were sad to miss it this year.
Sadly, the past months have also seen local and global tragedies, including the Bondi massacre and ongoing conflicts overseas. For me, these events highlight the value of community and reinforce why fly fishing remains such a safe, welcoming space – largely free of prejudice (except perhaps against dark-side fishing 😉). It’s a community I’m proud to be part of and happy to share with the wider world.
Looking ahead to 2026, we’re hopeful for a more settled fishing year, free from the natural disasters that have become all too frequent in recent times. The club is already planning some exciting outings and events, including the Weipa adventure, Lake Keepit trip, and the Dunmore excursion, and we look forward to sharing them with you.
For now, stay safe and enjoy this edition of Flycast.
