HFF Flycast, May-June 2025
Welcome to the May–June 2025 edition of Flycast. I hope you enjoy this issue.
We’ve got some exciting activities in the pipeline for the coming year, including a trip to Lake Keepit in March, a potential week-long adventure to Weipa with Brian Henderson, and—of course—a return of the very successful Harrington Fly Fest in collaboration with our friends at the Coffs club.
A big thank you to those who contributed photos and outing reports for this edition. Your input is always appreciated.
This will be my final edition as Editor of the Flycast newsletter. As announced at our last monthly meeting, Ben and Fleur Harvey—former President and Secretary, respectively—have kindly offered to take over the role. I’m extremely grateful to them both for stepping up.
Ben and Fleur are now based in Newcastle, so they won’t be able to attend club meetings or outings regularly. Because of this, it would be a great help if members could continue to send through photos, outing write-ups, and any items of general interest. I can say from experience that these contributions make the job of preparing the newsletter—which takes a fair bit of time—much easier.
This was also intended to be my final report as President of Hastings Fly Fishers. After five years in the role, I felt it was time to pass the torch.
It’s been a privilege to lead HFF over the past few years. I believe we have an outstanding club—one that not only brings us together through a shared passion for fly fishing, but also fosters a warm, welcoming social environment where we can learn, connect, and have fun.
Finally, I would like to sincerely thank all members who have contributed their time and support in making this another successful year for Hastings Fly Fishers.
