Finally my pleading for articles from club members has paid off, great reading this month with many interesting articles contributed.

I had a great time as always in Nundle – read Rodney’s report in this newsletter. Still speaking of Nundle, Robin has contributed “The Ten Commandments of stealth”. I wish I had been able to read this article before fishing for Rainbows at Sheba Dam although I doubt if the trout could hear or see us through the pounding rain. Never mind, I’ll put this article into practise at Dunmore next week and be sure to follow the commandments (even when it rains.)

You won’t want to miss reading the background info Paul has put together on the Fly of the Month the Gambusia and its originator Craig Coltman. What is a Gambusia? Well may you ask. The Eastern gambusia (Gambusia holbrooki) or mosquito fish were initially introduced from the USA into our waters in the 1920s because of their reputation for mosquito control. They have spread dramatically and endanger our native fish and amphibians. Strangely enough you are allowed to sell and keep them in some specified Sydney Council areas, whilst in the rest of NSW they have the same classification as carp; noxious with fines attached for various offences.

Talking of fish, our featured Know you Fish this month was only classified in 2015. It will be of interest to those members who desire to fish the warmer climes up North.

Interest was shown at the march general meeting of the club making a trek across the ditch once more to New Zealand. Some members also ex-pressed interest about a possible club trip to Tassie. Paul has been telling us about his trips to Millbrook Ponds in Victoria, not far from my old home town of Ballarat where this Scottish boy emigrated to with his parents many years ago. A combination of both Millbrook and Tassie sounds good to me.
